The www.Lawmakers.ca website and Lawmakers Journal of Canada was founded by members of the Sagkeeng Four Councils (Youth Council, Elders Council, Women's Council, Men's Council).
With Indigenous law as a constitutional super power in Canada, a great responsibility lies with Indigenous supreme legislative authorities like the Sagkeeng Lawmakers Assembly, including and not limited to, mino-pimatisiwin, a natural cultural legal mandate of the Anicinabek.
This website was created to increase unity, transparency, accountability, cooperation, collaboration, and promote understanding of not only Sagkeeng's living legal traditions but also those of our brotherhoods and sisterhoods across Turtle Island.
